Think about Creativity the RIGHT way!

Think of your brain, as made up of two halves, a left brain a right brain. Although, connected, each half operates independently. The right side of our brain does the creative thinking.

Doctors and psychologists think the frontal lobe plays an important role in one’s creativity.

Someone thinking of moving their left hand, or anything on their left side, instructions actually come from the right side of the brain. This is a result of the motor centers of the brain controlling hand movements. Therefore ‘lefties’ have more dominant motor centers on the right side of the brain. However, just because the directions come from the side of the brain associated with artistic function doesn't mean a lefty's more likely to paint a master-piece. ‘Experts’ on this subject don’t think ‘lefties’ are prone to be any more creative than ‘righties.’

"The big myth is that the right side of the brain is somehow a creativity bull's-eye.” However, that's not the case, and doesn't have anything to do with handedness. You need resources from both sides of your brain to be creative. All healthy people use both sides of the brain.

Think about taking one of the many ‘tests’ on the internet to see what side of the brain you ‘favor.’

Different the many phenomena in science noone has been able to think of a authoritative theory or definition of creativity. Additionally, different than many phenomena in psychology, nobody has been able to think of a standard measurement technique of creativity.

-Despite this finding or lack of finding, some educators think they are qualified to grade creativity.

Alternative schools who don’t think grades are a good policy are growing in popularity and promote their systems as better for developing creativity.

-Home-schooling is also growing in popularity as many parents don’t think any school system is adequate at developing their child’s creativity.

The people at The National Home Education Research Institute think there are as many as 2 million k-12 students being home-schooled in the United States.

Some think creativity is associated with genius, mental illness and humor. Others think it is just a ‘trait we are born with.’

More than 60 different definitions of creativity can be found in the psychological literature and psychologists are thinking of more all of the time......

There is a difference between creativity and innovation

Creativity is typically thought of the act of producing new ideas, approaches or actions. Innovation is the process of both generating and applying creative ideas into a specific context.

The ancient Greeks, used to think that the muses were the source of all inspiration, actually had no terms for "to create" or "creator." The only exception was poetry. The poet was seen as making new things and bringing to life a new world. The ancient Greek used to think the artist merely imitated. At this time, the poet was thought of as the greatest of creative thinkers.

The study of the mental representations and processes underlying creative thought belongs to the domains of psychology and cognitive science.
