U.S. psychologists say people made to think quickly report feeling happier and more energetic, creative and self-assured. This is mentioned in an article titled ‘From rapid thinking to being manic.’

An experiment at Princeton University studied manic thinking. Concluding that extreme rapid-fire mental processing can be a symptom of a debilitating psychological disorder. It also notes that at certain times everyone experiences racing thoughts and the coinciding ‘sense of wild exhilaration.’This information was part of an article titled ‘Thinking at jet speed.’

A rapid is a section of a river where it loses elevation over a relatively short distance causing an increase in water flow and turbulence creating ‘white-water.’ There are six different classifications of white-water to think about. The classifications are predominately used for people to think about the safety level of rapids. Class I is the easiest and safest to class VI the most difficult and most dangerous the people who did all the thinking about these classifications established the International Scale of River Difficulty.

There are also different features to think about in rapid white-water such as strainers, sweepers, holes, waves, pillows, Eddies, undercut rocks and sieves.

Kayakers have to think about all the different features in addition to thinking about the four factors that can create rapids: gradient, constriction, obstruction and flow rate. These four factors, separately or in combination, can create rapids.
-Not thinking about all of this stuff can be fatal for anyone ‘playing’ in rapids.

People often think of kayaks as the sport of choice when challenging rapid water and white-water kayaking can range from a fun, carefree, float trip to a challenging, adrenaline-filled sport. Again, there are many different ways of kayaking to think about such as river-running, ‘creeking’, slalom, play-boating and squirt-boating and extreme racing.

Kayakers need to think about the type of boat they are going to use because there are sea-kayaks and white-water kayaks. White-water kayaks differ from sea kayaks and recreational kayaks in that they are specialized to deal with rapid moving water better.

Archeologists estimate that people have been thinking about kayaking for 4000 years. These first kayaks were constructed from stitched animal skins such as seal stretched over a wooden frame made from collected driftwood, as many of the areas of their construction were treeless.
Early people developed the kayak as a result of thinking how they could hunt and travel alone. - The word "kayak" means "man's boat" or "hunter's boat.”

Kayaking is not the only way to think about ‘running the rapids.’ Rafting, canoeing, tubing, and drift boats are other options to think about.

Think about this! The human brain is three times larger than that of a chimpanzee. The brain of a 45 pound dog would weigh about 3 to 3 ½ oz. In contrast a human's brain weighs about 3 pounds. Skeletons don’t have brains.
-Some people think dogs are smarter than cats.....

Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep is the normal stage of sleep characterized by rapid movements of the eyes. Most of our vividly recalled dreams occur during REM sleep. This also means that there are no dominating brain waves during REM sleep. However, you are still thinking.
