During the 2006 World Cup, Americans were noted as saying that think soccer is boring to watch. Meanwhile the television ratings for poker and dominoes are increasing and Americans think these events are exciting.
When asked about professional soccer in the United States most people think about the men’s teams. However, the Women’s National Team is ranked 2nd in the world and The Men’s National Team is currently ranked 30th . The women’s team has won two world cup titles (1991 and 1999) and the men have never won. Perhaps we need to think and thank the woman’s team for solid representation....
The United States Soccer Federation was formed in 1913, but the U.S. did not think of the word ‘soccer’ until 1945.
America’s code within the Federation of International Football Association is U.S.A. and nicknamed ‘The Yanks.’ When Americans think of the “Yanks” they typically think of baseball and the northeast. The American National team is located in California and of all the MLS teams New England is the only team in New England. Although, within the USA, the term ‘Yankee’ usually refers to residents of New England, outside the USA, "Yankee" is a slang term for an American.

In fact, Pele’ is considered the Soccer Player of the Century. In 1958, at the age of 17 Pele scored six goals to help Brazil win their first World Cup title. During his career he scored 1,280 goals in 1,360 games. He still holds the record for ‘hat tricks’ (3 goals in a game) with 92. - What do you think Pele’ thinks of David Beckham whom recently signed a $50 million a year deal that will have him playing for LA Galaxy? Pele’, the man noted as the greatest to ever play the game, earned a salary with the New York Cosmos of $2.3 million.

Around the world soccer has been dubbed ‘The Beautiful Game.’ Apparently Americans think differently.
-Americans think that baseball, football and basketball are the best sports and rank them in that order of popularity. - soccer is considered a minor sport in the U.S. However, most do think that soccer is growing in popularity.
