Spring into action with this thinking about spring!
|
There is no need to think about when Spring begins because in the Northern Hemisphere Spring always begins March 21st. or 22nd and you don’t have to think about when it ends because it always ends on June 21st.
People often think of spring as a time of growth, renewal, of new life (both plant and animal) being born, and of the cycle of life once again starting. It is also thought of more generally as the start of better times. It is easy to think that when spring arrives things will start getting better.
However, thinking such as that doesn’t take into consideration that severe weather, such as tornadoes and hurricanes, most often occurs during the Spring. People living in areas such as ‘Tornado Alley’ need to think about the threat of tornadoes during the spring season. How many and what states do you think are thought of us part of ‘Tornado Alley?’
-People in Kansas need to think about tornadoes more than anyone else because Kansas has the highest number of F5 tornadoes since 1880
-Think about this. The 1974 super tornado outbreak took place in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. How many maps do you think include these states in Tornado Alley? -None. Perhaps we need to think about expanding the alley....

Thinking about spring on a brighter side - the warming climate of the spring season causes new plant growth to spring forth, giving the season its name.
There are a lot of plants to think about as approximately 350,000 species of plants have been estimated to exist. However, as of 2004, only 287,655 species had been identified of which 258,650 are flowering. That means there are still more than 62,345 plant names to think about creating.
-Thinking about getting into the plant business? In 2003 the global trade value for the floral industry was a $101.84 billion. That’s a lot of zeros to think about....
Be sure to think about the color of the flower you are thinking of giving someone. The color of many ‘gift’ flowers have meanings to think about. For example, a red rose means I love you, but an orange lily means I hate you -think about getting that one given to you....Who thinks of these things anyway?
There are other ways to think of ‘spring.’ You can also think of a spring as a flexible elastic object used to store mechanical energy usually made of steel. Just think about how many springs are a part of the things we use every day...There are springs in our pens, mattresses, clocks, engines, tools and toys!

-Think about ‘The Slinky’! “The Slinky’ is a spring used as a toy. Nobody was trying to think of making the ‘Slinky.’ It was accidentally ‘founded’ in 1943 when a sailor dropped a big spring and watched it ‘slink’ across the floor. That soldier immediately started thinking about what a great toy that spring would make. That was pretty good thinking since more than a quarter billion ‘Slinkys’ have since been sold worldwide. The creators were inducted into the Toy Industry Hall of Fame in 2001. Do you think you know how long a ‘Slinky’ is? Each Slinky is made from 80 feet of wire.
You can also think of a spring as a natural spring; a point where groundwater flows out of the ground.
Think about this - Of all the freshwater on Earth, much more is stored in the ground than is available in lakes and rivers. If you think about how much is ‘up here’ just think about how much is ‘down there.’
People have been thinking about ways to sell spring water for hundreds of years. Today huge companies are thinking about the billions of dollars they make on water they simply extract from the ground. Some might not think that is very ‘fair.’
However, it doesn’t stop most people from thinking about buying bottled spring water. In 2004 Americans were thinking so much about drinking it that they consumed 25.8 billion liters of bottled water. The most of any nation. That is an average of 90.5 liters per person. They must not think much about the fact that studies show that bottled water is not any better than tap water. Definitely think about this: Evian is a leading producer of bottled water and Evian spelled backwards is Naive.... Do you think they were thinking that when they named the company?
-Certainly something to think about....
Have you ever stopped to think that only three percent of the water on Earth is freshwater in nature and about two-thirds of this is frozen in glaciers and polar ice caps. Polar Bears may be thinking about this as they watch their habitats slipping into the ocean....What are they thinking about how we are thinking.... ?
While we watch fresh water going down the drain we should also be thinking that no ‘new’ water is being added to the earth....
Spring is typically known as a rainy season but don’t think rain is ‘new’ water because it is not.
You can also think of the word Spring as a verb to indicate action such as ‘Spring into action.....’ |
